The inside edges are covered with industrial grade luggage material and are sewn with 2 rows of cross-stitching, then 3 rows of linear. Each squeaker inside the toy is sewn into a safety pocket. The squeakers are safe and quiet because they are sewn under three layers of material. These tough dog toys are rated by VIP Products on a Tuffness Scale with 1 being the weakest dog toy and 10 being the strongest. They even have a Jr. series for small dogs and puppies. We have used the Tuffy's Ultimate Tug O War with our labrador puppy and have found that has stood up to the tugging and pulling she dishes out.
