Don't leave your dog in a car
Every week we hear about someone leaving a dog in a car parked in a parking lot.
People just are not aware how hot a car can get in 30 minutes. On a 85 degree day the temperature inside your car reaches 120 degrees in 30 minutes. Your dog will become dehydrated and suffer permanent organ damage. Heat exhaustion ( just like in humans) is a horrible way to die.
Just today, I was talking with a friend in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan and as she was coming out of her local Kroger, she saw a black lab in a car with a window cracked. The dog was visibly panting, eyes glazed over and he was pawing at the window to try and get out. She was among a group of horrified fellow shoppers that were seeing this. She asked if anyone had called the police and everyone that was standing there said "no". She called the police and as the police arrived the woman who owned the car came out of the Kroger with a full cart of groceries. When asked about leaving the dog, she said "My family needs groceries." My friend gave this woman a hard time about this. She did not press charges, but I think this woman needs to know what she did is considered animal abuse!
I know here in Wilmington, NC where the temperatures have been in the upper 90's that if a dog was left in a car, they would be baked to death. I cannot understand how people that get into their hot cars and crank on the air conditioning can even consider to leave a pet in a car for any amount of time.
If you see a pet in a vehicle, please use your head and your cell phone and call the police. They will come. Believe me, I love animals and if I do see a pet or a child in a car, I will break the window and rescue them.
This is animal abuse and according to a recent inquiry in a case the state trooper responded“There is no law regarding the time a dog can be left in a parked vehicle,” State Patrol trooper Dan McDonald said. “However, if the conditions warrant, the owner can be charged with Animal Cruelty under RCW 16.52.207.”
This poor dog ran out of the back of her SUV and fell to the ground. I would have liked to ask her- Can I let you sit in your car while you shop without any air conditioning? I don't think she would like that too much. I have heat exhaustion and it is awful.
PLEASE!! DO NOT LEAVE YOUR PET IN A CAR!!

Free Range Eco Naturals MOO dog chews
Free Range Eco Naturals dog chews company was formerly Free Range MOO dog chews.
The company changed their name in April 2011 along with their packaging. They are the only company in the pet industry that is 100% "green" and eco-friendly. Their labels are now made from local grasses in the Pampas region of Argentina, the ink is soy based and the packages are biodegradable, compostable and recyclable. Their offices in Romeo, Michigan are now "green" with everything that they can possibly do being eco-friendly. Even their product comes in recycled carton.
In January 2010 the company moved their production facility from Brazil to Argentina. The lush green Pampas region of Argentina is where their grass fed, free ranging cattle live. Their dog chews are the highest quality and they use a special vertical drying method to make their bully sticks odor free.
They use no antibiotics, hormones, steroids or preservatives. Their chews are all natural.
Don't be fooled by other companies that offer "free range dog chews".
Mickey's Pet Supplies is one of the largest online retailers offering the widest selection of the Free Range Eco Naturals (MOO dog chews). You will find every bully stick size from select, supreme, braided, bully juniors, tripe springs, chicken breast wraps, and Buckarooz deer antlers.

How To Keep Your Pets Safe While Trying to Beat The Heat
Repost- Originally posted on ClickOnDetroit.com July 17, 2011
TEMPERATURES DANGEROUSLY HIGH FOR PETS!!!!!
ANOTHER WEEK OF OVER 90 DEGREE WEATHER COMING UP!
The Animal Care Network has already encountered dozens of dogs and cats suffering from heat stroke or heat exhaustion. Dogs have been collapsing in backyards, on walks and in cars!
TIPS: *Heat stroke can happen in as little as ten minutes *Avoid vigorous exercise and walking *Do not leave your pets in your car *Keep fresh cool water available at all times *Keep your dog in a shaded area *Many dogs like to cool off in a “kiddy” pool
SIGNS: *Increased temperature *Vigorous panting, thick saliva *Dark red gums *Lying down and unwilling or unable to get up *Collapse and/or loss of consciousness *Dizziness or disorientation
WHAT TO DO IF YOU SUSPECT HEAT STROKE:
*Move your pet out of the heat and away from sun right away *Go to your local veterinarian immediately *Begin cooling your pet down slowing by placing cool washcloth or towel on the body, especially foot pads and around the head *DO NOT use ice or very cool water, only slowly offer cool water, do not force.
If your dog lives outside, please make sure the area is kept clean every day to avoid flies that feed on dogs in the summer, also please make sure your pet is vaccinated! If you see a dog or cat in need of a help, become that dog's advocate. Speak with the owner, and if that fails to improve the situation, contact your local animal shelter, humane society or animal control office.
Founded in 1994, the Michigan Animal Adoption Network is a 501(c) 3 non-profit organization in the Metro Detroit area. MAAN frequently engages in special promotions and fundraising efforts on behalf of the animals. MAAN continually strives for new and different ways to educate the public, to raise money to continue its low-cost spay/neuter program, street rescue efforts and to find loving homes for homeless pets. To date MAAN has placed more than 6,210 dogs/cats through the Adopt-A-Pet program and visited over 90,000 addresses to offer assistance through the Animal Care Network. The Animal Care Network has rescued over 12,000 dogs/cats and spayed/neutered over 5,000. ACN hosts vaccine clinics which can vaccinate over 1,300 animals in one day. These programs have received national recognition from Linda Ellerbee of Nickelodeon News and received an Animal Planet nomination.
