BPA Bisphenol A or BADGE in pet food

We have been doing some research on BPA and pet food cans and really just found out about this chemical additive recently. We have 5 cats and feed them canned cat food and now have decided that it is probably time to switch them to a raw dehydrated diet based on this information.

Here are some articles to help you understand what this chemical is and how it will affect your pets and you.

Here is a great post by Truthaboutpetfood.com that goes into great detail about which brands have this cancer causing chemical added to their cans

You can subscribe to petsumer report and you can go to the truthaboutpetfood blog for a lot of petfood information that is very helpful.

Again, the pet owners have to do their research to see what is in their pet food cans.

It is great to know that these companies do not use BPA in the pet food cans: Chicken soup, Merrick, Weruva, Blue Buffalo, Canidae/Felidae, Petropics, Nutro, Purina, Iams/Eukanuba & Fromm

Mickey's Pet Supplies will be carrying the Honest Kitchen brand of dehydrated raw dog and cat food soon. Their pet foods are an all natural dehydrated raw food from human grade ingredients with NO GLUTEN. It's time to get away from canned pet foods.

Honest Kitchen is made with guaranteed 100% human food-grade because they are not produced in a pet food plant and are stated as such on their labeling. Honest Kitchen foods are made in an FDA approved, human-food-producing facility in Southern California, that makes the very same foods you eat. All grains in Honest Kitchen food are certified organic. Their meats are hormone & antibiotic free and the fruits and vegetables are guaranteed non GMO. Honest Kitchen's Quinoa is certified fair-trade. All of the meats used are USDA approved, US Origin. Their fruits and vegetables are guaranteed non-GMP and grains, kelp and flax are certified organic.

Their pet foods contain no by-products, added salt or sugar, chemical preservatives, artificial colors or flavors of any kind and no beet pulp, rice, wheat, corn, or soy. These are common allergens for dogs and can cause GI upset, dry, itchy skin, hair loss or dullness, lack of energy, chronic ear problems and chewing at the feet.
We are genuinely looking forward to carrying their full line of pet foods and treats.
